We got a puppy!

On Saturday, February 23rd, we were on our way to drop Kira and Billie off at Grandma and Grandpa's for an overnight stay while we headed to Chicago for a night out and some shopping. Before we got there, we decided to make a stop at Target and Petland in Janesville just for fun...

and then we saw this little Golden Doodle.... Kira just sat and watched her for the longest time, and announced to us, "I like the white one!". We had seen her there a couple weeks ago and really liked her too. Then we realized that maybe she was OUR puppy. So we looked at her and a couple others and decided, only hesitating because of the spontenuity, that this was the day!

So we bought Miley. She is petite, so we only expect her to get to be about Billie's size or maybe a little bigger. She has a small frame and paws. We are hoping she keeps the golden retriever looking face~ which looks a lot like Billie's when she was a pup. Of course, if she doesnt shed, that would be awesome! but we're not counting our chickens yet. We bought a bunch of puppy supplies and headed out.

Miley had to stay at Grandma and Grandpas overnight while we were in Chicago, but it was a nice chance for Kira and Billie to get to know her. Although she barked most of the night, Grandma and Grandpa gave their blessing that she is a very smart puppy with a good temperment.

Sunday night, we took her home, and began getting used to the new pace of life! Billie took a little while to warm up to her, but now they are playing and having fun wrestling.

Miley has caught on to potty training pretty quickly following Billie's lead. She listens very well to when we tell her "no" and seems to understand the difference between dog toys and people stuff.... although we are not naive enough to expect NO casualties!

Kira was a bit concerned about Miley's energy, but has really taken to her and helping to train. They even do some cuddling! Miley is not aggressive at all, but also isn't submissive. She is really cuddly- and we are loving that!

Damion is quite pleased with Miley's skill and personality and is confident we made the right choice. Although she is a good listnener, you know D is the disciplinarian. When she was barking in her crate carrying on, D gave one stern "NO" and that was the end of it. But he likes the cuddling too.

They went to the vet on Tuesday, and Miley is a whopping 11.2 lbs. It will be interesting to see how quickly she grows.

But for now, we are just enjoying her cuteness :)
